If you're thinking Alsace... you must stay here!

We have just returned home after spending 8 fabulous days in Riquewihr. The stay was nothing short of perfect... well maybe, the emergency visit to the dentist doesn't quality. Our hosts, Jean Paul and Martine Krebs, didn't fail to deliver. Our accommodation was immaculately clean, well supplied, and very tastefully decorated. Being in the short term/relocation business in the US, I am extremely critical of furnished accommodations and could find absolutely nothing short of perfection in our apartment. The maps and information left for us were invaluable. The photos accurately portrayed the apartment and Valerie (a true gem) met us where and when we planned. Valerie gave us a brief overview of Riquewihr (where to buy croissants each AM, restaurants, and most importantly on how to use the European washer/dryer). She came to the rescue we had an emergency dental situation. (Great dentist in neighboring town-Ribeauville...only 22.50 E for treatment!) We're telling everyone that Alsace is a hidden gem....go now and book a unit with Jean Paul. Bonnie and Shel

We had a most enjoyable stay and a marvelous repose-just what we needed ! Thank you so much for the work you have done to renovate such an important part of the history of this town an the region. We will advise all those we know who could appreciate this ambiance. It was especially pleasant to be here during this “quiet time” in the town. Everyone we met was warm and welcoming. Valérie opened the door to this excellent visit with a grand smile and just the right amount of information to make everything a success. Thank you!

I am always happy to return to Alsace to sample the wines, food and in particular the hospitality. Staying in Riquewihr is a fine example of what the Region can offer and is exemplified by this wonderful “gite” and the welcome by Valérie. Perfect holiday destination.
Chloé and Rayma (Penth Australie-Sydney), Dec 01-05, 2009
The apartment is cute and cosy with only a bus ride to Colmar. It was nicely decorated with the Christmas tree being a nice touch. Riquewihr is stunning and seems to we more alive in the afternoon. Thanks to Valérie as well for a warm welcome an arrival.

A beautiful apartment in a beautiful village surpassing our expectations. This has been a wonderful base to explore the region - and the wine ! - and we have thoroughly enjoyed it and will hope return in the future. Any villages are worth visiting but we have particularly enjoyed Eguisheim, Ribeauvillé and Kaysersberg. Whilst Strasbourg is a fascinating city. Wonderful travel through the vineyards and enjoyed the Degustation – we particularly liked the Maison Zimmer – halfway down the hill on the right hand side. Many thanks for allowing us to discover this special place.
Annette, Julia and Margit (Californie USA), July 24-28, 2009
Canoeing, hiking, eating, driving through the Vosges in the thunderstorm, walking though vineyards were all activities that make lasting impressions. Thank you especially to Valérie who was very helpful.
Janet and Stephen (Kentucky USA), July 17-23, 2009
We loved the apartment! It was great accommodation for our explorations though the region. We also loved Riquewihr itself. Au revoir !

Four wonderful days ! Thank you so much for shoring this beautiful apartment with us. We love had a great time exploring and hiking around the region. It is a great home base. We look forward to retuning some day soon.
Happy New Year Jean-Paul, We wanted to thank you for the opportunity to stay in your apartment in Riquewihr. What a treat! It was perfect! We felt so at home and my gosh, what a fabulous location. We enjoyed the Christmas celebrations despite the sea of people. But, there were plenty of side streets to explore without the crowds and after everyone left, it was delightful to walk around and feel the mystical life of medieval times. The apartment was wonderful-- so many quality details --cute as could be. How old is this house? And, we have to say that Valerie was so sweet and professional. We hope that your Christmas was great and we wish you a wonderful New Year Eve celebration along with best wishes for the New Year. Cheers, Pamela and David
My husband Tony, and I stayed at your beautiful house last June for our honeymoon (Le Colombier). I wanted to let you know that we are in the process of trying to buy our first home here in Monterey, CA. The only way we can afford one is to buy a "fixer" and do a major remodel. I was just on your website trying to get ideas for our kitchen and bathroom! You have done such an amazing job with all three of your places in Riquewihr. (We didn't get to see your two latest, as they were still in the middle of construction.) Anyway, I just thought I would let you know that your homes have been a source of inspiration for our home here! I hope that we will be able to visit France and Riquewihr soon!

I can picture the leaves appearing on the grapevines in Riquewihr and it is an image that I find very soothing when life becomes rather hectic. The last time my husband and I were there, we walked up into the surrounding vineyards on a beautiful October day. The sky was very blue, the sun was shining down upon the city and the historic ramparts, there was exciting activity in the vineyards as families harvested the grapes and both John and I felt such a sense of peace. At that moment, it seemed that all should be right with the world. It is an image I have never forgotten...
I continue to enjoy looking at the slide show of The Colombier. Since I was last in touch, we have booked our flights from Boston to Strasbourg. The four of us are all looking forward to this trip and our stay in your wonderful house. Until the next time -

Just to say thank you so sincerely for a wonderful stay. Not only is the setting of Riquewihr enchanting but also how you have made the accomodation so comfortable with every amenity possible. A real gem! We have stayed in many places around the world but it must be said that your hospitality is first class, one of the best ever. Thank you for the personal tour, your reccomendations on restaurants and wineries were superbe - this personal touch DOES make a difference. We will return for sure.
Thanks again for everything
I loved everything too! Jeffrey

Tony and I cannot begin to tell you what a wonderful honeymoon we had here in your beautiful home. Our week was filled with beautiful walks / hikes, drives and wine tasting. I loved the kitchen here and had fun creating different dishes for us in the evenings.
Thank you for making us feel so welcome! We cannot wait to come back.

This apartment and location are a slice of heaven. Firstly the apartment... Photos do not do this lovely apartment justice. This is a large, quality apartment, beautifully restored using luxurious materials. The owners are a delight to deal with and Jean-Paul was there to meet us. The apartment had everything we needed and more items were being added whilst we were there. The village was also another discovery. It is full of restaurants and cellar doors for tasting the fabulous Alsace wines. There are 2 Michelin one star restaurants in the village and another at Zellenburg (2 km away) as well as several Michelin recommended restaurants. Most of the wineries have cellar doors within the village open for tasting. So this is the perfect foodie-wine lovers paradise...you don't have to drive anywhere; just walk outside your door and stroll to dinner or a wine tasting. A wonderful and relaxing holiday.

We just returned from a wonderful week at Le Colombier. It is everything that is described on the web pages and more. It is spacious, light and airy inside. The house is exquisitely decorated and furnished –it is obvious that much thought, planning and attention to detail went into the project. It has every amenity that one could want, from the state of the art appliances to hair dryers. It is comfortable, with sofas and easy chairs and the “stub” is a delight. I like to cook. We ate lunches out and all suppers in. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a patisserie 1-1/2 minutes walk away and an excellent winery 3 doors away as well as a small grocery in town. The pellet burning wood stove installed the week before our stay was a delight! I might add that there are an abundance of electrical outlets scattered throughout the house. The house is immaculate and the housekeeping staff is efficient and friendly.
Jean-Paul is a gracious and warm host, and provided a great tutorial when we arrived. From the first inquiry he was prompt in answering all of our questions. I particularly liked his reservation system, having a “dossier” with a file number with all communication handled online rather than individual emails. No more frantically looking for emails, every message between us was right there in chronological order in the file. We hope to return next year.
